Off-roading puts extreme abuse on the vehicle’s equipment, but the tires see the brunt of it all. Mickey Thompson and its Baja Boss tire line have a new member to the family that was released at the SEMA Show, the Baja Boss XS.

In keeping with Mickey Thompson’s 60-year tradition of direct collaboration with race teams to innovate tire technology, these relationships have yielded the most rugged DOT-approved tire Mickey Thompson has ever made. Over the past several years, Mickey Thompson has collaborated with teams competing in Ultra4 off-road racing to maximize purpose-built products with traction for the varied and sometimes unpredictable terrain of competition-style rock crawling, endurance desert racing, and short-course style racing.

Mickey Thompson’s Baja Boss XS is the newest tire to the Baja Boss line that is already stacked with tires like the Baja Baja M/T and Baja Boss A/T. The Baja Boss XS brings competition-proven technology to the general public.

“Representing unparalleled off-road success, the Baja Boss M/T has reinforced Mickey’s off-road reputation by claiming the 2023 King of the Hammers Everyman challenge, 2023 Ultra4 Legends West Championship, and 2023 Ultra4 Legends National Championship with Mickey Thompson racer Jeremy Jones; a first in Ultra4 history,” said Heather Tausch, Sr. Director of Marketing for Mickey Thompson. “Coupling this technology with our groundbreaking PowerPly Pro technology, we expect the Baja Boss XS to transcend this legacy going into the 2024 race season.”

The tire features PowerPly Pro, an innovative four-ply sidewall construction for increased puncture resistance. The sidewall construction comprises two radial plies sandwiched between two heavy-duty bias plies. The Baja Boss XS features a functional asymmetric pattern, extreme Sidebiters, and a silica-reinforced compound for off-road traction. These features are packed into a DOT-certified tire for highway use while being rugged enough for aggressive rock-crawling and high-speed off-road racing.

The Mickey Thompson Baja Boss XS is available in three sizes: 35×12.5R17LT, 37×12.5R17LT, and 40×13.5R17LT. For more information on Mickey Thompson tires or to find the right tire for your vehicle, check out Mickey Thompson’s website.
